Job Description

Title: Retail Pharmacy Tech

Location: Hubertus, Wisconsin 53033

Schedule: 8-hr Day Shift, 40 hrs/week

Weekends: Every other weekend (9a–1p Sat/Sun)

Requirement: 2+ Years as a Pharmacy Technician and CPhT Certification

Role: Standard retail pharmacy duties (dispensing, customer service, filling scripts)

Environment: On-site, fast-paced retail setting

Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician I performs a mix of clerical, technical, distributive, and data-gathering tasks to support pharmacists in delivering safe and timely medications to patients.

This role may include work in both home-site and remote pharmacy locations, with opportunities for cross-training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build competency in serving pharmacy customers: collecting demographic and insurance information, entering data into the pharmacy system, supporting insurance verification, label generation, and cashiering.
  • Assist in dispensing and delivering medications, including maintaining accuracy in automation/technology systems and ensuring proper storage and clerical handling.
  • Support insurance and third-party billing functions: data entry, prior authorization requests, maintaining authorization files, correcting submission errors, and handling private insurance, workers’ compensation, and Medicare/Medicaid issues.
  • Assist with clinical support tasks, including (when applicable) DIR-fee related functions.
  • When assigned, assist customers with diabetic footwear selection and fitting; submit related insurance claims and maintain documentation.
  • Float between Client's Pharmacy locations as needed to support workflow.
  • Maintain competency in pharmacy procedures and documentation in line with legal, regulatory, and departmental requirements.
  • Follow all regulatory standards, especially controlled substance procedures and USP requirements.
  • Provide age-appropriate care and demonstrate an understanding of patient growth and development principles.

  • Strong math skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within standardized pharmacy practices.
  • Diabetic shoe fitting certification may be required depending on assignment (training provided).
  • Life-support training may be required at department discretion.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to walk, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach throughout the shift.
  • Lift, push, and pull items such as bags, boxes, and carts using proper technique.
  • Deliver medications via preferred patient method (bedside, curbside, etc.).
  • Travel between Client's Pharmacy locations as needed.

Able to:

  • Lift up to 35 lbs from floor to chest level.
  • Lift/carry up to 35 lbs at waist height for reasonable distances.
  • Push/pull up to 30 lbs of force.
